All of our listed dimensions are accuracu to a certain degree. When each clay is formed and ready to fire, a 13% reduction from the original size is general rule of thumb. For this reason; each item may be slightly difference in size as well as weight. These are natural occurrences and can not be controled but at Fox Hollow Pottery, we try to make each item as naturally close as described.

Chinese Red Glaze
These finely crafted heirlooms are glazed with a recently translated ancient Chinese Red Glaze. The coloring ranges from persimmon to black, and sometimes to characterized by crystallizations. These effects are always different to a greater or lesser degree, depending on the path of the flames and the atmosphere in the kiln. The pieces with the creamy tops have been rim-dipped in another, lower firing rutile glaze.
After glazing the pieces are then fired in a gas reduction kiln to a temperature of 2,250 degrees fahrenheit.
Blue Glaze
These finely crafted heirlooms are glazed with an ingredient called Gerstley Borate. The mining of the original vein has recently been discontinued, making this a much more valuable piece.
The piece is first dipped in blue glaze, and then put on the spinning potter's wheel. While the pot spins a white glaze is sprayed onto the piece.
Teal Glaze
These finely crafted heirlooms are glazed with an ingredient called Gerstley Borate. The mining of the original vein has recently been discontinued, making this a much more valuable piece.
The piece is first dipped in blue glaze, and then put on the spinning potter's wheel. While the pot spins a green glaze is sprayed onto the piece.
Mirror Black
These finely crafted heirlooms are glazed with a formula made predominately from the rare and costly ingredient Albany slip.
This is a type of clay found only in one area of upstate New York. The only commercial mine was closed in the early 1980's and is no longer available. As this is a naturally occurring clay, there has been no known direct substitute found which produces the same effects
